There's a recent hacker wars (competition): CanSecWest-2008 (March 26 -28), at Vancouver, Canada.
The hackers are to hack into 3 different notebooks, each with different system installed.
The system are: Vista Ultimate SP1, Mac OS X10.5.2 & Linux Ubuntu 7.10.
The results?
Well, the 1st to fall is... suprisingly, Mac OS X10.5.2
The reason? The hackers exploited a security loophole in the Safari Browser, and they hacked it within 2 minutes time. [On the second day of competition] After succesfully hacked, they gain control of the Mac Book Air.
Next is Vista Ultimate SP1.
It falls on the last day of the competition.
They attacked a security loophole in the Java system, and then successfully gain control of the
Vista system.
Ubuntu are safe even to the end of the competition.
Is it the safest?
Probally is, probably not.
There are some loopholes indeed, but the hackers think that those loopholes are too premature to be properly attacked.
There goes the whole wars.
