Nyahahahahaha~ Progress Report!

Status: Slightly Delighted
BGM: Kazahane - Haruka Shimotsuki

I'm not sure what to update now. Hey, maybe I could talk about the progress of my ComTech class soo far.

Things are going quite well, except that... I miss out a few deadlines. Crap! Cant let this happen again, else I'm gonna lose myself. (And failing the subject...)

I guess I should put in more initiative in this subject. Meh. And workout my timetable planning... Well, the truth is, I always end up rushing everything at the last minutes. Bad habit. =A=

I need improvement... I guess.

Disastrous!

Status: Half-excited, half-worrying
BGM: I cant get over your best smile - Kotoko

Ever wonder how great is the 'affection' of MMORPG?

Well, to tell the truth, it is soo great.

Too great until I could hardly resist them.

I remember that I've sworn not to get addicted to any online games anymore, and yet everytime I does that, there will be an online game out there that is seducing me. Ah crap.

One of the fun part about the online game is not just only the gameplay. The gameplay does count, yes, but it's the atmosphere that makes u get addicted.

1 of the main reason i get addicted is not just because of the uber nice graphic the game has, it is the way I enjoy gaming with other gamers that count. Talk about enjoying chatting while getting your character level up. It's just fun. So fun that words could hardly describe the feeling.

Since this is still on the closed beta stage, I could still have some control over my time of gameplay.

Yet I wonder how far would I go for it once the full-time open beta goes online.

Let's just hope I wont go as far as forgotting all of my college assignments. Meh.

How Pakistan knocked Youtube offline... LOL!

Status: Overactive
BGM: Endless Story - Yuna Ito

Apparently, Youtube got knocked out from the global internet for like, 2 hours.

And how the hell did that happens?

Well, it seems like an order issued from the Pakistani Government to block the site has been given out to the main ISP provider in Pakistan, the Pakistan Telecom.

And by accident or design, the Pakistan Telecom gone as far as claiming the IP of Youtube, claiming themselves to be the legitimate destination for anyone who is trying to reach Youtube range of websites.

And that causes quite an uproar. According to one of the employee of PCCW, the Service Provider that provides internet link to Pakistan Telecom, they have recieved a flurry of phone calls from global ISPs wondering what is going wrong. A call from Youtube representative was also recieved. And the most suprising part is, even Pakistan Telecom contacted PCCW.

It's seems like even the culprit doesn't know what they have done. Wow. Seems like they have accidentally knocked Youtube offline... brilliant.

Youtube responded with countermeasures within minutes after the incident begans, as their traffic-tracking system picked up something abnormal. They initially try to reclaim their network by narrowing the broadcast from 1024 to 256. 11 minutes later, YouTube goes on a more specific additional broadcast, claiming just 64 address, which is more specific under the Border Gateway Protocol, overruling the Pakistani one.

And after 2 hours of the initial false broadcast, the mayhem is finally stopped.

The whole thing wouldn't be happen if A technology like Secure Border Gateway Protocol was used. Yet it was hardly used because the modems that usually recognize this are pretty costly.

Maybe this would act as a speed-up catalyst for the use of this technology.

Security in the world of Internet is like unexisting for the moment being. Anything could happen, so best watch ur back.

Software is dead; long live software

Status: Feeling Cool
BGM: Death of Titanic - Royal Britannia Orchestra

When is the last time u choose Google Docs and Spreadsheet over Microsoft Words and Excel?

Well, maybe we havent advance into that stage yet, but seriously, changes are going around us now.

Maybe in the next 10 or 20 years Microsoft Office will rarely be use by home user.

Web appliences might be taking over their position, as they might just be easier to use, and the good thing about it is u could access it in almost anywhere with a web connection.

Well, it's easier to say than to be done. Consider what will happen when there's no web connections or web connections went down like last time when the earthquake hit the sea and broken all the optic fiber cables, leaving us unable to connect to the outer world.

And before anyone says software is dead, let's have a look at Microsoft's Sales Figure. Microsoft Office 2007 is a big hit, increases in a rate of almost doubling it's predecessor, Microsoft Office 2003. Now what? Software is dead?

There's still a long way to go for software, at least for this century, probably. Software is dead? Maybe not yet.

Downfall of Conventional Media Storage

Status: Less motivated
BGM: Ash Like Snow - The Brilliant Green

There's a prediction to this: In the next 10 or 20 years, DVD, tapes and similiar media will be gone from the world.

Why?

Because there's gonna be a new way for us to get the latest movie and musics.

By downloading them to our computer! No more CD, DVD or Blu-Ray.

Maybe it'll be replace with microchips like SD card.

They are much more stable compare to Conventional Disc.

And it's painfull when a new media format is released, u're gonna change all ur favorite movies format by buying them again.

And that sucks.

Well now, that would happens no more. Maybe u'll juz to convert the video into new format or exchange ur old format ones with the new format ones.

Now that's an easier and less painful way. Just let's not talk about what will happens when a hard disk or a storage device get corrupted or go bonkers.

What will the world be in the future?

HD-DVD is Dead. Love live Blu-Ray!

Status: Awkward?
BGM: Pieces of Dreams - Chemistry

Toshiba officially announced they are going to reducing the production and shipping of HD-DVD and generally, stop producing it. They realized that HD-DVD is losing the war and pull the plug fast before there's more losses coming their way.

One of the main reasons for their losses are that they did not had as much support as the Blu-Ray -- Blu-Ray is the standard optical drive for PS3 while Xbox 360 didnt do the same to HD-DVD -- which lead to the current outcome. Blu-Ray also had much support from some big name like Wal-mart, NetFlix and Best Buy, which is what HD-DVD and Toshiba lacks.

While Hollywood studios like Warner Brothers had already stated that it'll exclusively support Blu-Ray, others that initially support the HD-DVD format, like Universal, had been confirmed - changing their format from HD-DVD to Blu-Ray DVD.

Now we can all enjoy Transformers In Blu-Ray DVD Format. Cheers.

Yet another problem still persist... Blu-Ray is still soo freakin expensive. Blah. With the main rival going down, Blu-Ray prices is gonna drop later-than-sooner. Geez.

Yahoo Rejects Microsoft's "Marriage Proposal"!!!

Status: Normal
BGM: Konna ni Chikaku de - Crystal Kay

Yahoo says no. Microsoft in 'tears'.

Crushed are their dreams to access Yahoo's 50 million user database, where they will attempt in using it to compete with Google. I guess Microsoft wont stop until they monopolize everything they could.

Guess now the peoples in Google are happily partying now. lol. Before this they have planned to thwart Microsoft's plan for revenge. Microsoft had almost crushed Google's wish in acquiring the online ad company, DoubleClick, in a 1.2 billion deal. Now Google can take a short rest... but not for long.

Why?

Because it seems like Microsoft would not give up that easily (considering their past records), and although Yahoo had initially rejected the deal, they might still consider the merge... if Microsoft can offer more cash. Seems like there's still possibility for the born of "Micro-Hoo" ( Micro-soft + Ya-Hoo ) ...

Well, given the situation how advanced our computer era is now, there's a saying that goes like, "If Microsoft were to start over all again today, they dare not put up the price tags on their software like what they does now. This is the age of freeware."

Guess that only time would tell. Whatever the outcome is, it seems like the consumer are the one that will take on the results. So let us wish that one day, freeware will force Microsoft to lower their software prices.

Sun-U WLAN SUCKS

Status > Miserable =A=;;;
BGM > Apologize - One Republic feat Timbaland

Connect... Disconnect... Connect... Disconnect... Connect... Disconnect... ARGH. Why cant the freaking Sunway-U WLAN juz stop doin so? It's soo damn freaking annoying!

Speaking of which... well... now it connects again. Let's juz hope it wont die down again.

Such is the reliabilty of Wireless Connections. Wonder when could wireless connection be on the same stability standards as the hardline connections? Do we have to WAIT until the age of Quantum Computing?

Hell knows when it's gonna disconnect again. God bless it.

Gaming Industry is wierd...

Well, it seems like I finally realize how the patents for certain gaming technologies can caused some real fuss.

Creating a game today is no more fun or easy. Be aware that u might be sued by some bloody big gaming company trying to protect their supposed 'brainchild', when u make a small game and it unexpectedly got wildly popular.

For example, Gamemakers Midway sued/charged company from SEGA to Microsoft to EA for using the 'virtual car-driving' simulation model they created back at 1989. =A=;;;

These people are just really money-minded.

Why things just cant go the easy way?

Windows Vista? Windows XP?

Argh.

This is soo fustrating.

Vista is nice and safe, It's cool, colorful and convinience in some way. But! it eats up soo much of memory it's not funny. And when u're trying to rush on something the security system really gives u a big bad headache. And let's not talk about it's steep learning curve, while having bunch of compability issues. I thought it was supposed to be user friendly! *or maybe it's just me?*

On the another side, XP is reliable, simple, easy to use, and dont require a lot of memory. It doesnt have the silly compability issues too. But! the security on it is like, non-existance. And somehow being simple could be part of the turn-off mechanism too. Sheeesh.

WHICH ONE IS BETTER?!

Web in Chaos

Sometimes things that benefits us much could turn over and stab us in the back. Like the Internet.

Edison Chen is learning this the hard way. Hundreds of his explicit sex photos with other famous female celebrities are being circulated around the web. Now he and the female celebs are in real deep shyt. And let's not talk about how bad it'll influence their reputations.

Who's gonna be the next victim?

Finally!

I've got my Laptop! Finally! After all the hardworks in persuasing my parents for like, 6 months, I finally laid my hand on it! XD What a wonderful CNY for me! XD

Wheeee... No more boring break time in college anymore! XD

And I could utilize my new laptop for my Comtech Course! XD

Now that I have my laptop, all sorts of things could be done... and it's gonna give me more excitement in my college life. =D

On the other note, I'll say that computer course is a pretty good/ convinient reason to convince the parents for buying a new comp. Heh.
